Pre-Departure Checklist for Nepal
1. Passport and Visas
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months when you submit your application for a visa.
"On Arrival Visa" can be obtained from all the entry points in Nepal. You can also get your visa from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions before your arrival. Some of the nationals are required to get a visa before they arrive from their nearby Diplomatic missions of the Nepal Government. You can find more details about visas for Nepal here.
2. Travel Insurance
It is important to get proper insurance that covers medical expenses, emergency evacuation, and other travel protection required during the trip. Also, make sure that the insurance covers the level of activity you are going for. You can find more details about the insurance policy and the insurer here.
3. Flights Confirmation Details
It is better to know if your flight is on-time, sometimes there may be delays due to the weather condition or other unforeseen situations. If there is a delay in flights please notify us so we can manage your pick-up accordingly.
4. Equipment
It is easy to travel with light baggage so make sure you only carry things that you need for your trip. Excess baggage means more weight and you may need to pay extra money if your baggage is heavier than the weight provided by the airlines. It will also be easier while you claim the baggage at the airport if you have single baggage rather than bringing many small bags.
5. Arrival Instruction at the Airport
After you arrive at the airport, proceed to the immigration to apply for Visa on Arrival if you haven't received a visa from your origin country, clear the customs charges if needed, and then collect your baggage and make your way to the arrival hall. You can get a SIM card at the arrival hall so that you don't have to find stores to get a Sim card later.
6. Airport Transfers
Transfers to the hotel and back to the airport are included in your trip. Our office representative will be at the airport with our placard during your arrival to escort you to the hotel. So kindly inform us about your arrival time and if there is any kind of delay. If you don't see our representative or our placard at the airport please do contact us. Our contact details are provided here.
7. Credit Cards
American Express, Master Card, and Visa are widely accepted at major hotels, shops, travel companies, and restaurants but a certain amount of service fee is charged by the banks. The clients must have a credit card with enough transaction limits available for any payment. Sometimes, cards are not acceptable or may not be applicable for enough transactions, so it is necessary to know the limits beforehand and contact your banks at the origin place for all the details required.
8. Flight Schedule & Hotel Check-In
A late-night or early-morning arrival (considered night) may incur additional charges for early check-in at the hotel. For example, most standard hotel check-in time is 3 PM but if you arrive around midnight then we have to book an extra night at the hotel or you have to wait till 3 PM to check in at the hotel.
It's important for travelers to be mindful of hotel check-in and check-out policies and to be prepared for any additional fees for early check-in or late check-out. Seven Summit Treks will do its best to arrange for early or late check-in/out requests, but travelers should also take into consideration the hotel's rules and room availability during busy seasons.
So, travelers need to manage arrival time while booking their flights according to their itinerary.
9. Flight Ticket
It is advisable to purchase a flexible return ticket, as the completion of the climbing expedition may occur ahead of schedule, depending on weather conditions and the progress made.
